Monday 8th April: Zoo Scientist for a Day
Become a Zoo Scientist for the day and use your new-found knowledge of ecology and natural sciences to help protect the environment.
Participants will be able to discover and observe water bugs and other minibeasts under microscopes and magnifying glasses, whilst learning of their importance to our ecosystems.
The young scientists will also visit Honey World and learn the role that bees play in our environment. All of this whilst exploring Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and getting up close to our animal ambassadors!
Tuesday 9th April: Animal Trainer for the Day
Ever wondered how captive animals learn to perform or obey instructions?
Step into the shoes of an animal trainer and learn about the training techniques we use, both for animal health checks and behaviours for our shows.
The best thing is that many of the techniques participants will learn can be used on household pets!
Wednesday 10th April: Horticulture for Habitats
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary spans 27ha of sub-tropical rainforest and eucalypt forest.
The horticulture team does an amazing job maintaining the environment but also assisting the keepers in making realistic habitats for the species that call the Sanctuary home.
Participants will get an insight into plant species used at the Sanctuary and assist with plantings, as well as an up close and personal look at habitat/enclosure design for species.
Thursday 11th April: Keeper for a Day
Take a walk in the boots of a keeper, with this insight into what itâs like to be a wildlife keeper.
From cleaning, to food preparation, health checks, enrichment and more; participants are guaranteed to walk away with a better understanding of keeper duties.
Friday 12th April: Vet for a Day
Currumbin Wildlife Hospital plays such an important role in our community.
Our âVet for a Dayâ program gives participants an insight into rehabilitation and rescue, release techniques, veterinary equipment and their uses and conduct health checks on animals.
